I was talking about insouciance, perhaps a little arrogance. Using reverb instead of vocal range when there should be some real emotion to go with the lyrics. (Singing sometimes so the note doesn’t hit the beat, for example, too.)

The singer sounds (drawl, style, inflection) like someone to whom things — including social and sexual experiences — have come easily, maybe with a bit of disdain, no? The way his voice falls off a bit when he sings « dear » — like, does she matter?

I like the music at Scopitone very much, and I have said so, and have let you know of other music when when I find it elsewhere. But I don’t always like everything. Oh well.
