La nouvelle petite merveille du label français Atelier Ciseaux est un split 7″ rassemblant Mathemagic et Young Prisms. Ces derniers qui ont pour habitude de transformer le bruit blanc en arc-en-ciel reviennent ici avec These Daze, une surprenante ballade shoegaze psychédélique et claire-obscure, délocalisant The Jesus & Mary Chain en Californie. Et offrent ainsi un écho troublant à la chillwave rêveuse du célèbre Breaststroke de Mathemagic, pour la première fois ici en vinyle. Cerise sur le gâteau de ce split : le délicieux Ivory Coast et sa dream pop tropicale, disponible en téléchargement avec la copie physique du split. Chacune magnifiant les caractéristiques de leur morceau. They present us an troubling echo of  Mathemagic ‘Breaststroke’ dreamy chillwave, for the first time on vinyl. Il est assez rare que je m’attarde à vous présenter des labels, car je suis plus enclin à suivre les artistes… Et pourtant, deux mots sur Sixteen Tambourines annonçant la sortie en juin au format cassette de Mathemagic et de Coasting. Le « naissant » petit label est japonais et représenté  par Ally & Emma. Le catalogue est déjà fort intéressant avec à leur actif Little Girls, Procedure Club, Sore Eros et tout prochainement Tennis, Craft Spells, Jeans Wilder, Tan Dollar et Eternal Summers. C’est dire si malgré les 9 795 km nous séparant, je me sens proche d’eux, des artistes qu’ils fidélisent et vous invite à les suivre également de prêt.

Usually I don’t spend much time talking about labels, I prefer writing about artists… And yet just a word about Sixteen Tambourines announcing Mathemagic and Coasting upcoming tapes in June. This label is run by Ally & Emma. They have yet many interesting things in their catalogue: Procedure Club, Sore Eros and very soon Tennis, Craft Spells, Jeans Wilder, Tan Dollar et Eternal Summers. No wonder that despite the thousands of miles separating us, I feel close to them, to the artists they support and I encourage you to follow them too.

Cela fait déjà quelques ciels bleus que je n’avais plus évoqué Mathemagic mais à l’annonce de la sortie prochaine de son Ep, voilà que l’envie me reprends d’écouter « High »… Il faut parfois prendre de la hauteur pour percevoir le soleil, c’est cette même impression que me procure le « couple » Evan et Dylan Euteneier. Je suis prêt à parier que la formule mathématique de ce duo Canadien est magique ! Vivement la suite…

I haven’t talked about Mathemagic for a few blue skies, but now I know they’re going to release their EP very soon, I want to listen to « High » again… Sometimes you need to get higher to see the sun, and I’ve got the same feeling when I listen to Evan and Dylan Euteneier « couple ». I’d bet that the mathematical formula of this canadian duet is magic !
